Currently open MONDAY- FRIDAY 8 am- 6 pm
Closed SATURDAYS effective April 16, 2022
Early drop-off (starting at 6:30 am) available upon request Monday to Friday!
Do you ever worry that your furry friend is getting bored sitting at home while you have to work, run errands, or visit someone? Well worry no more. Animal Antics Behaviour Centre provides full day doggy daycare to keep them entertained for you.
All puppies at daycare will receive fully supervised play time with other daycare dogs. Nap times are available upon request or as needed and lunch can be given if you bring your dog's own food. Generally, your dog will be free to play all day with their friends, with crates and kenneling in a quiet space only used if your dog requests a break from the group or behaviours deem it necessary. Our daycare staff work hard to ensure the happiness of each and every dog with individualized attention. Our daycare is equipped with both indoor and outdoor play areas, including two separate play groups- large/rowdy dogs and small/calmer large dogs, with the option to break it down further into three groups as needed. We can accommodate up to 70 dogs per day (max 35 dogs per play group), depending on staffing, & weather conditions (we accept fewer dogs when we cannot use our outdoor space due to heat or weather).
It is VERY IMPORTANT to note that not all dogs want to be in a large social group. Many dogs do not enjoy or cannot safely handle playing with multiple dogs, even if they enjoy a few friends in the dog park or have other dog friends at home. If your dog is overwhelmed in our group, we will recommend they do not continue coming to daycare. An overwhelmed dog is not enjoying their time here and is more likely to react aggressively when they cannot avoid interactions.

Regulations
Proof of vaccinations MUST be provided at registration and updates must be provided as needed. A complete Dog Daycare Application MUST be provided before an assessment can occur. We will NOT book an assessment until we have had time to review your dog’s application. Dogs will not be accepted in for a trial if we do not have vaccines and a signed application on hand. Submitting an application does not guarantee your dog will proceed to an assessment visit.
Dogs must be people friendly AND dog friendly. This includes ALL DOGS- if your dog cannot be tolerant of all other dogs, including intact males, intact females, small and large dogs, this is not the environment for them. Reacting negatively (spinning, sitting, snapping, baring teeth) at dogs for sniffing them or appropriate engagement is not appropriate and will not be permitted in daycare as well as excessive mounting, body rushing or other behaviours that could cause injury to other dogs.
Dog and People Aggressive dogs are not allowed in the daycare area- please contact us for private training to address ways to modify aggressive behaviour.
Reservations are REQUIRED to ensure a space in daycare, preferably at least a day prior to guarantee a space
Please inform us if you plan to drop your dog off before 8 am, so we can ensure adequate staff on hand to manage early morning drop offs
All dogs are required to have a short ( 1 hour) initial visit and an appointment is REQUIRED. Dogs will be assessed for suitability in our daycare during this visit
We REQUIRE dogs attend regularly- at least twice a month, preferably more often (at least once per week), to ensure consistency and proper social skill development.
If your dog is sneezing, coughing, or has diarrhea they MUST stay home to prevent disease spread.*
We are no longer accepting dogs over the age of 2 years without regular previous dog daycare experience in the past 3 years AND referral from the former daycare.
Dogs over the age of 8 months who have not attended regularly prior to 8 months, must be spayed or neutered before beginning the program. Intact male dogs enrolled in our daycare prior to 8 months with regular attendance (minimum twice a month) will be allowed to remain in the program until their hormonal behaviours start to take over, and then will be removed from the program until they are neutered. Intact females will be asked to be removed as soon as signs of first heat occur and can return 2 months after the heat begins, although we highly recommend spaying before returning.
*Kennel cough is always a risk for social dogs but is usually mild with the vaccine so please remember to get your dog vaccinated and keep an eye out of symptoms including hacking/coughing, mucous discharge and sneezing. It is similar to the cold/flu. Puppies, elderly dogs and anxious dogs are more susceptible as their immune system is lower. If your dog does display symptoms please keep them home for 14 days or if your dog has recently visited a boarding facility we recommend waiting at least 7 days before returning to daycare as Kennel cough has an incubation period of 5-10 days. This is a viral disease so we try our best to prevent spread by cleaning etc. but recognize even dogs on a walk, going to the groomers, pet stores or dog parks can catch Kennel cough. SOCIALIZATION PROGRAM
The socialization program is for dogs that need practice being social or improving their play and are not ready for daycare/large groups because they require extra attention. The dog and a small (1-10) select group of friends will be closely monitored by one of our trainers to ensure good manners, a comfortable atmosphere and safe play. Assessment for socialization coincides with the daycare assessment (1 hour, $25 plus tax) to see how many dogs and what dogs they do well with. Afterwards, if we determine they are a good candidate, we can set up a socialization hour during our regular daycare hours. We will also discuss realistic goals for your dog which can range from lowering social anxiety to getting into daycare. After the initial visit, the price will start at $15/hr plus tax, this may change depending on the dog’s needs (training, leash work, number of friends and staff).
This is generally for young dogs (12wks to 2yrs of age) to expose them to dogs and help them play appropriate, however if they are social upon assessment they can likely join our daycare group where our staff will still monitor their play and provide a report card.
HANDLING AND LATE FEES
Due to changes in our dynamics, expenses, and client’s needs we will be updating our late fee policy and adding a handling fee for certain cases (as of February 2023).
The new policy will be as follows:
Our EXTENDED DAY (9+ hours) fee has been eliminated, as it can be difficult for our staff to keep track of how long each dog has been here, especially during busy rushes at pick up time. In place of that we have added a LATE FEE and a HANDLING FEE for the conditions described below.
A LATE FEE of $6 plus tax per 15 minutes will apply:
If you need a pick up time AFTER 6 PM. Exceptions if within 5 minutes of 6 pm, or something was outside of your control (phone call is required and must be within reason). Our facility closes at 6 pm, and although we are often here for training classes or private lessons, dogs staying late still require an additional staff member to stay or a trainer to leave their class to send your pup home.
A new HANDLING FEE of $6 per hour may apply in the following scenarios:
If your dog struggles with being crated or contained and you have received a notice for recommended time for pick up that you can not accommodate, you will be charged an additional fee for that later pick up, as we will need to provide additional staffing to ensure their safety and supervision.
If your dog is here for over 9 hours and doesn’t regularly stay for extra long days the handling fee may be applied at pick up, especially if your dog was showing excessive signs of stress, struggled with being crated or confined, or required extra staff attention to limit their stress/anxiety.
